Solving an idle bomb threat at Abraham Lincoln High School on Monday morning proved easier than a jigsaw puzzle for school police. All they had to do was match two pieces of the same sheet of paper.
The scare began at about 9:35 a.m. when a 17-year-old male student handed a slip of paper to a school police officer that stated “2 bombs will detonate at 1:30 pm today,” Philadelphia police said. The student said he found the note by a school bathroom.
During a search of the student’s bookbag, the school cop found a torn piece of looseleaf paper that matched the paper that contained the bomb threat. Confronted with the evidence, the student admitted that he wrote the note, stating, “I did it. I have mental issues and I did this before at my prior school,” Philadelphia police said.
Philadelphia police arrested the student, who was charged with six offenses including risking a catastrophe, terroristic threats and bomb threats.
Officials placed the school on “lockdown” while Philadelphia police K-9 dogs confirmed that no explosive devices were on site. The school resumed normal operations at about 11 a.m. ••
